Happy Mother’s Day!
May 13, 2018Some days it’s still hard to believe that these two boys call me mom. It’s a role I never knew that I would hold in my life. I’m truly grateful for the role and can’t picture our lives without them. I think at times we hear our kids say, “MOM,” so much that we forget what a special place we have in our children’s hearts. Even when we mess up (which for me is every day — sometimes feels like every minute.) we simply are the best gift to them. We get to teach, love and care for their little souls.
Mother’s Day can come with many emotions and not all that are happy. Many of you are not feeling up for the massive task of motherhood or you have lost or never had a mother. I want to honor where ever you are today. Don’t put pressure on yourself to be or do something that doesn’t fit. Just sitting and honoring the place you are is very powerful. So to be the example and sit in the place that I’m at right now in motherhood would be exhausted. I know that I won’t always feel this bone tired exhausted, but right now I do. Life has brought many stresses that make it very challenging to care for children at the same time.

I will say that my boys’ laughter, smiles and everyday silliness help in the exhaustion. It helps me realize not to take life so seriously and that true joy is some of the best medicine for life stresses. So whatever place you are at today, I hope you can find little pieces of joy on this Mother’s Day.
