Ep 26: Choosing a Different Path: A Mother’s Journey with Alcoholism-with Sarri Truscinski
December 2, 2020Host Sondra Doty is honored whenever people share their vulnerability on the WTYM podcast; it helps enable a deeper conversation, if not a more, honest and impactful one. Today’s guest provides exactly that. She simply reached out to Sondra and said she wanted to share her story around her relationship and journey with alcohol.
Guest Sarri Truscinski and Sondra have a long friendship. They met in their junior year of high school when Sondra was a new student at Sarri’s school. They became fast friends and God really brought their hearts together in a cool way. Sarri and Sondra have done a lot of life together and have seen one another at their best-and worst-over the last 20 years.
Together, they have decided to break down this conversation on alcohol and motherhood into three different parts: Past, Present and Future. Doing so will allow listeners to understand the full spectrum of how others in your life might be struggling in a similar way.
So, with that, Sondra offers an extra warm WTYM welcome to Sarri as featured guest on episode 26. Sarri lives in central Minnesota with her husband of 17 years and three children ages 14, 13, and 8. Sarri stayed home with her kiddos for about 12 years, but now that each of them are in school full time, she has gone back to her education roots. She’s currently an early childhood special education teacher. She’s a lover of all things music and likes to write fun/silly songs about how she doesn’t like to shave her legs. (That’s true, folks!). Playing guitar has been her stress release for years, and her outlet for days when life is just too much. Sarri tries to love on people as much as she can, and works to shine a bit of hope whenever possible life is a beautiful thing, even in the darkest, messiest parts, and she is so grateful that she is now living it sober.
